Molly Flynn (she/her) is a full stack engineer based in Seattle, Washington. She has been working professionally in web development since August 2022 and studying web development since July 2021.

Molly finds programming to be fascinating! She has a passion for clean, effective code. It is especially satisfying to take on projects and knock them out quickly, yet precisely.

When Molly isn’t coding, she enjoys making non-alcoholic cocktails, writing music, leading community projects, and spending time with her family, cats, and very slobbery dog.

A snapshot of the Corn Pups website
WIP: Corn Pups

Molly is currently building from scratch a website for a client's pet services business. The website is being created using ReactJS and Bootstrap 5, and is being hosted on Netlify.

A challenge encountered with the Corn Pups website was taking a Testimonials slider (which was built for jQuery and not intended for use with React) from CodePen. This challenge is still being overcome. Stay tuned!

Damp and Dry July
Damp & Dry July

A ReactJS-built website sharing details of the Damp & Dry July program (an non-alcoholic initiative founded by Molly) with consumers and participants.

A challenge encountered with the Damp & Dry July website was incorporating elements from the graphic designer. I overcame this challenge by working with the designer on the types of files used and determining together which design elements were not achievable for this project.

Dualsided

Molly worked as a frontend engineer for Dualsided, a dev company building custom Shopify themes and materials for e-commerce companies.

A challenge encountered with some of the Dualsided projects was adjusting to Shopify's Liquid code. I overcame this by studying literature and online resources, and turning to my team for help when needed.

Pokédex

A lexicon of pokémon data, built using Javascript, HTML, CSS, and an API.

A challenge encountered with the Pokédex app was navigating a new-to-me API. I overcame this challenge through perseverance, studying the API literature, and checking with resources such as Stack Overflow and my community Slack channel.

Dictionary app
Dictionary App

A dynamic dictionary app built on ReactJS using two APIs. This app returns various dictionary results based on the search term.

A challenge encountered with the Dictionary app was juggling multiple APIs at once, as this was a new skill. I overcame this challenge by carefully studying my coursework and completing the task per the assignment specs.

Task List App
Task List App

A simple app that uses Javascript, HTML, and CSS to create a custom task list for the user.

While I don't recall a specific challenge encountered with the Task List app, in hindsight the UX would have been much improved if the app returned results on pressing the Enter key instead of solely onClick.
